Arthouse-AMoA Five x Seven SPLURGE Tonight
For several years prior to the Arthouse-AMoA merger, the Arthouse hosted its annual Five x Seven Fundraiser. Only slightly redubbed, this year’s Five x Seven SPLURGE event has the same idea—open call to artists for work within the dimension of 5 by 7 inches. (No depth is specified and sculptural objects are permitted.) Proceeds benefit Arthouse-AMoA. The opening is tonight, April 4. Sale begins at 8:30pm; tickets available online.
Rachel Adams, Curator of Public Programs, talks about the event in a recent interview on KXAN.
All of the works are sold for $150, however, artist names are not listed on wall tags. That’s part of the fun. If you know your Texas’ artists, you might be able to pick a name out of the crowd. However, the idea is that the pieces are affordable for the collector (similar to the Affordable Art Fairs in Seattle, LA and NYC), which encourages emerging buyers, is beneficial to the museum and helps promote the artists. Sounds like a win, win, win!
