The Impeccable Tastes of The Good Music Club

There is really no greater proponent of the Austin music scene than Laurie Gallardo. Not only does Gallardo play all of our favorite local bands during her deejay shifts at KUT (90.5 FM), but she also showcases her impeccable tastes as curator of the monthly live recordings of The Good Music Club.

Wrapping up its first year in existence, The Good Music Club celebrated the holidays by unwrapping its first ever CD release at Frank. The CD includes previously unreleased audio recordings from The Good Music Club’s first four live concert sessions, featuring music from Not In the Face!, Crooks, The Couch, Quiet Company, Hello Wheels, The Blind Pets, Guns of Navarone, Nano Whitman, Politics, Bobby Jealousy, Paul Banks & The Carousels, The Lonesome Heroes, The Sour Notes, and Frank Smith. And while I am not typically a fan of compilation CDs, this one is well worth the mere $10 price tag. Let’s just say that I know what I am hoping Santa puts in my stocking this Christmas…

The CD release party at Frank included a listening party and a live performance from The Good Music Club veteran Jack Wilson. In case you missed this fabulous event, here is a video from Jack Wilson’s performance at The Good Music Club’s  September 2012 taping. Check it out:
