SXSW 2012 Awards: Film and Interactive
The reports are out about SXSW Film and Interactive awards, 2012.
In film, everyone is clamoring about Jay Bulger’s documentary Beware of Mr. Baker and narrative feature Gimme the Loot, which both won a grand jury awards.
Other feature-length films, which received awards this year include: Eden; Starlet; and Booster. Also, look for Austin-favorites: Richard Linklater’s new film Bernie, and Trash Dance.
SXSW Interactive kicked-off awards with the people’s choice going to AmericansElect.org. And, according to KXAN, other grand prizes go to:
News-Related Technology: Funf Project
Mobile Technologies: Condition One
Innovative Web Technologies: Viztu Technologies
Entertainment Technologies: Wemo Media
Health Technologies: Ginger.io
Social Media & Social Networking Technologies: Thirst Labs
Additional SXSW Interactive Awards Finalists can be found by clicking here. Of particular interest for AdobeAirstream were the Arts finalists, which include:
(2015) Quilt
Aquatypes
Bla Bla
Curious Creatures
The National Parks Project Interactive
I especially love Bla Bla—a fun “film for computer” that is interactive; it’s folksy yet “tech-y” with a hand-made feeling and brilliant music. If you have free time, Bla Bla is a place where you can truly play online. (In case you’re still not intrigued, I’ve included a few photos from the site below.)
