Creative Time Slumber Party

Channeling the twelve year old in all of us, with a shadowy twist, Creative Time hosts their benefit Slumber Party tonight, Nov. 18, in New Yorks Chelsea.  It all starts at the Ace Hotel, where Creative Time kicks off the festivities with a cocktail party at 8, including food from April Bloomfields The Breslin, a Tarot reading and DJd Fischerspooner musical stylings.  Tickets are $150 or $275 for the whole package with a pair of Cottons sleep garb.

No pillow fights or hair braiding here when the dance party breaks out at 10.  Judging by the boudoir themed night, sleeping bags wont make an appearance either.  Celeb DJ Matt Creed kicks things off with the melodies hes made famous at the now closed Beatrice Inn in Greenwich Village.

The center of this slumber party gone wild is  the launch of limited edition designer pajamas by Will Cotton.  The pajamas channel their British cousins via great country houses and flocks of greyhounds with an imaginative dash of design that ushers these PJs into the modern art scene.  The pajamas can be purchased from the Creative Time website for $150 or $350 for a signed pair.  Their whimsical turn fits glove-like into Cottons painterly talents. His hyper-real oil paintings show ginger bread houses through snowy mist and women with Madeleine head dresses.  Cottons magical whimsy evokes perfectly the tone of Slumber Party 2009.

Hosted by Creative Time, Slumber Party 2009 channels their ethos of enlivening and broadening the world of art through “the most important, ground-breaking, challenging and exceptional art of our times.”  With tarot readings and good food, this night out promises a hint of magic, some dark fun and the best art scene this side of the Hudson.
